Throssel Hole Buddhist Abbey
There is a wealth of Dharma available within the Order, much of which can be downloaded for free. It includes audio files of talks by senior monks as well as some transcripts and videos.
A good source of free material is the Dharma Teaching pages of the Throssel Hole Buddhist Abbey website.
Besides the freely available downloads, a range of books can be purchased at the Throssel website on their Bookshop page, or on a visit to the Abbey.
Within this wide range of Dharma teachings some items of particular interest are listed below:
Sitting Buddha Book
This short book by Rev. Master Daishin, the Abbot of Throssel Hole Buddhist Abbey, is an introduction to Zen Buddhism and sitting meditation (zazen) as practised in the Serene Meditation (Soto Zen) tradition.
PDFs and audio files of this book can be downloaded for free from Here
Alternatively the paperback version can be purchased from the Throssel Hole website or on a visit to the Abbey.
The Journal is published four times a year from the Journal office at Throssel Hole Buddhist Abbey in the north of England. It contains articles from monks and lay practitioners on aspects of Zen practice, combined with news from temples around the Order.
The journal can be downloaded for free from the OBC website. Alternatively, for a small subscription, you can receive a paper version covering the whole year.
Portobello Priory Newsletter
The newsletter is published three times per year by the Priory. The articles are all by lay members of the Scottish sangha apart from the opening item of each newsletter, which is written by the Prior.
All editions back to 2006 are available on our website.
